Why we started Snippa…
Over decades in clinical practice, Kathy and Mara saw patients again and again with similar frustrations, conditions which had been incorrectly diagnosed, undertreated or, commonly, ignored or dismissed. These individuals had been seen by providers who treated episodic symptoms only and never looked for the underlying cause. Frequently, they had been told that their concerns were simply an inevitable part of the aging process. Many patients expressed that they had been made to feel uncomfortable when discussing their sexual activity or shared that no one had every inquired about painful sex or difficulties with intimacy.
Mara & Kathy responded by listening to their patients and encouraging dialogue about all of these ‘lifestyle’ conditions, focusing on individual concerns and priorities with creative, customized strategies and solutions. Recognizing that conditions which impact urinary and vaginal health are still under-researched, under-treated and, in many cases, barely acknowledged as problems, they partnered with a pharmacy to research and develop novel treatment plans. While conventional pharmacologic treatment was appropriate in some cases, many patients benefitted incalculably from a combination of alternative and holistic modalities designed go beyond simply eliminating symptoms.
Mara and Kathy had tremendous success in treating these issues. They asked serious clinical questions about chronic infections, painful sex, uncomfortable vaginal areas, and incontinence, asking for more details and descriptions. Over years of these conversations, they developed an appreciation for the unique experiences and needs of each patient and the unparalleled benefit of customized and flexible treatment plans based on each patient’s personal concerns priorities.
And that’s when Mara and Kathy had their “light bulb” moment and realized that the treatments they were recommending could be safely and effectively offered to hundreds and thousands more people. Snippa offers convenient, accessible, and discrete care for common pelvic conditions in a virtual setting.
