STDs & STIs
Sexually Transmitted Diseases & Infections are typically contracted through sexual activity or genital contact with a person who is already infected. Some STIs may have minimal or no symptoms and can be spread without either the carrier or recipient’s knowledge. Without treatment, STIs can sometimes be associated with the development of serious complications so it is critical to be treated. The Department of Health recommends that sexually active individuals should be tested annually for STIs.
If you have had a positive test for an STI, you shouldn’t feel scared, overwhelmed or embarrassed. These are common, treatable conditions.
